Fig crown with laurel & aniseed

Fig crown with laurel & aniseed

A beautiful and tasty crown of dried figs in the way the Druze people do it in Lebanon…it’s very simple and a delicious way of preserving dried figs.

dried figs
fresh or dried laurel leaves
aniseseed

Slice the figs open at one side and spread them out. Lay flat with seeds up, sprinkle with some aniseed and divide some laurel leaves over it. Top with remaining figs. You can make one layer or several. Stack something heavy on top ( a pile of pans) so the figs become thinner and flat. Let them dry like this for days weeks or months! Eat like that with a nice glas of tea!
